  • LSHS Quality Policy

    LSHS is committed to be the first choice for customers and commuters in Africa, by designing and manufacturing safe, quality and competitive coaches & trucks that meet all our customers’ specifications; applicable statutory, regulatory & international standards.

    In pursuit of this we have set quality objectives alongside this policy, which are communicated & reviewed periodically to ensure continuous improvement within our organization. We have also implemented a quality management system (ISO 9001:2015 International Standard) to monitor performance, guide us in ‘doing work right the first time every time.

    LSHS further commits to:
    1. Satisfy requirements and continually improve the effectiveness of the Quality Management systems (QMS).
    2. Benchmark with global best practices.
    3. Provide and maintain appropriate infrastructure and suitable work environment Innovate and provide excellent services.
    4. Establish and enhance partnerships with external providers and relevant interested parties to provide improved services.
    5. Ensure the policy is communicated, understood, applied within LSHS and is available to relevant interested parties as appropriate.
    6. Embrace risk based thinking, process approach and integrate QMS in our business operations.
    7. Establish, measure, monitor and update as appropriate quality objectives.

    This quality policy which is compatible with the context of LSHS and supports its strategic direction shall be reviewed to take into account changes in Quality Management Systems and other relevant practices.

  • Safety

    At LSHS safety is not an afterthought; it is built into all our products. In addition to manufacture strong robust buses and trucks we also have safety features to protect the driver and passengers of the bodies we manufacture. Our safety features include:

    1. Roll bars to prevent the collapsing in of the roof in case of accidental rollovers
    2. Robust frame construction with proper usage of hollow sections and angle lines at the direct impact places.
    3. Individual seat lap belts.
    4. Anti skid flooring.
    5. Grab handles and hand rails

  • Quality

    The quality of LSHS bodies remain one of the highest in the region as is evidenced in the number of LSHS vehicle bodies that are still road worthy after years on the road. Beginning with the procurement of quality material to proper treatment of materials we ensure that LSHS vehicle bodies will provide our clients with a good return on their investment. Some of the quality measures undertaken include:

    1. A fully functional internal quality department that keeps a close vigil on production via inspection gates.
    2. Standardized jigs ensure that we maintain the same standards on each body we manufacture.
    3. All body frame components including all hollow sections are treated both inside and out in an approved rust prevention primer.
    4. All interior accessories are powder coated to endure wear and tear.

  • Innovation

    The secret to our longevity for the last 60 years has been our commitment to continuous improvement. A few highlights include:

    1. Use of reinforced fiberglass on front, rear and roof of the bus in addition to ABS interior help reduce the overall weight of the bus; subsequently reducing the fuel consumption and wear and tear on tires and brakes.
    2. Introduction of CKD in bus body manufacturing with foreign collaborators.

  • Milestones

    The quality of LSHS bodies remain one of the highest in the region as is evidenced in the number of LSHS vehicle bodies that are still road worthy after years on the road. Beginning with the procurement of quality material to proper treatment of materials we ensure that LSHS vehicle bodies will provide our clients with a good return on their investment. Some of the quality measures undertaken include:

    1. LSHS is proud to be the first and only bus, truck and commercial vehicles body manufacturer in East and Central Africa to be attain ISO 9001:2015. This is after a rigorous transition audits conducted by SGS in August 2018. Prior to the transition LSHS was ISO 9001:2008 in 2012.
    2. LSHS is selected as a model company in the 2018/2019 Productivity Improvement Project in Kenya by National Productivity and Competitiveness Centre(NPCC) and Japan Productivity Centre(JPC). As a recipient LSHS will benefit from organization-wide training in Kaizen and 5S.
    3. The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has approved LSHS to use its standardization mark having meet the requirements of KS 372, the Kenyan standard on vehicle body construction.
    4. The National Road Safety Agency now rebranded to Safety Plus has awarded LSHS the best MV/Institutional bus body manufacturer award every year since 2012.
    5. LSHS is also an approved passenger body manufacturer by National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) pursuant of the KS 372 standard.
